Message is pretty high. The recent introduction of this technology is not only because of growing market demands but because of the availability of the technologies needed. Mostly finite element analysis to predict distortion, damage, mold filling (avoiding knit lines!!!) solvent welding, etc etc etc...

Even designs from Ford have been plagued by issues on non turbo cars. The demands are even higher in boosted applications because of the heat loads and stress from the internal pressure.

Whoever chooses to do this must not only consider tooling costs and break even points but the risk of total or significant partial loss of their investment to insurmountable technical issues or going over budget to address unforseen but fixable issues.
